This chart shows the performance of the selected assets over time.
The performance is shown as a percentage of the initial value of the asset, corresponding to the return of the asset (w.r.t. the initial value).
When interacting with the chart (see below), the chart will update to show the performance of the selected assets for the selected time period.
In other words, the return will be recalculated to the initial value for each asset (over the selected time period).
This visualization consists of two complementary charts:
There are two ways to navigate the chart:
1. Using the toolbar (top-right corner):
2. Using mouse controls:

The values displayed are the annualized returns for the selected assets.
Annualized return is a percentage that indicates the consistent yearly growth rated required to achieve the same overall result as the asset's performance over the selected period.
For example: if an asset has a total return of 50% over five years, its annualized return is 8.45% (and not 10%!). This implies that if the asset had grown steadily at 8.45% per year, it would have reached the same final value as it did after five years.
Annualized return, also referred to as compound anual growth rate (CAGR), is defined as follows: $$ \text{CAGR} = \left( \frac{V_f}{V_i} \right)^{\frac{1}{n}} - 1 $$ where \(V_f\) is the final value, \(V_i\) is the initial value, and \(n\) is the number of years.
Note: Year-to-date (YTD) returns represent the actual return for the year so far, without adjusting for the proportion of the year that has passed.
